Randy Block - career transition coach and consultant

Randy Block offers prospective clients over 35 years' successful coaching and staffing experience ranging from general management to key individual contributors.

Randy received his BS in Business Administration in 1969 from Cornell University, after having set high school athletic records about which he'd rather you didn't know. An ROTC graduate, he received his U.S. Army commission the following year and served as a Club Officer and Management Analysis Officer. Leaving the service in 1972, he received career coaching from Eli Djedda of San Francisco's Bernard Haldane and Associates. He obtained his first high-tech industry position, as a recruiter with American Microsystems in what wasn't yet known as Silicon Valley, as a direct result of that collaboration.

The following year, he went to work for high tech recruiters Robert Siegel and Company of San Francisco, which he helped grow to over 25 recruiters and staff. Quickly ascending to the title of Vice President, he established the company's first retained search function (both national and international) even while mentoring and training junior recruiters.

With Danelle Storm, he later co-founded Storm Block & Associates of San Francisco, whose focus, in addition to recruitment training, was retained search for the high tech industry.

Five years hence, in 1986, he unveiled his own company, Block & Associates, which offered recruitment consulting and staffing workshops as well as retained search for high technology companies. He also served as an advisor for small companies on staffing issues.

By 1998, feeling it was time for a change, he hired a career coach certified by the Hudson Institute, Steve McMahon, and went through an introspective process, at the end of which he resolved to become a career transaction coach himself. The CPAD Network certified him the following summer (IJCTC). He received a second certification (CCMC) from Career Coach Academy in 2002. The third certification of CPRC (Certified Professional Career Coach) was awarded in 2004. Randy is also a licensed "Now What?" coach working with those professionals who are asking that very question.

Combining years of content with effective tools that can translate into pragmatic career solutions Randy is today fully engaged in his coaching and search practices.

He lives with his son, Jeremy and sees more movies than anyone he knows. His associations are as follows:
